Vast, peaceful and incredibly beautiful, this is a fascinating destination with a rich cultural legacy and a natural splendour. Accommodation features upmarket villas and chalets, positioned in the pristine bushveld so privacy and relaxation are guaranteed.
Kololo Game Reserve offers a unique concept: a diverse array of wildlife and luxurious, comfortable accommodation in a private, protected concession where only the safe wildlife roams free. With the Big 5 safely behind the Welgevonden Gate, Kololo is an ideal destination for families. Children are free to explore the area, enjoying the adventure of the ‘safe’ wildlife on 3,000 hectares of private concession within the larger Welgevonden Game Reserve. Kololo has its own gate providing direct access to the rest of the reserve.
Kololo Game Reserve offers 14 chalets and villas, from 2-person chalets to 6-person Bush Villas, to our Deluxe Kings Villa with private pool and boma. All chalets and villas are built in African style with thatched roofs, verandas, private barbecues, some with outside showers and a private pool. Interior decoration is tastefully created with natural materials in African colours. Wifi is available in all villas, reception and restaurant, however mobile connection is only available at reception.
Kololo’s restaurant boasts two decks, overlooking pristine African bush. Relax at the pool, enjoy a drink from the bar or watch the sun go down over Welgevonden. Sit at the open fire and let our chef make your dining experience unforgettable.
There are many ways to see the beautiful nature of Kololo/Welgevonden. You can either walk or mountain-bike by yourself, or be accompanied by a ranger, and be personally part of nature. The Welgevonden game drive (3 hours) introduces you to the Big 5 area in our game viewer. Our experienced ranger will tell you all you need and want to know about our game, the abundant birdlife as well as the vegetation. The extended Welgevonden game drive (6 hours) takes you even further into Welgevonden to enjoy the bio-diversity of this magnificent reserve. During all game drives a stop will be made at a safe place for a drink and snack.
